How many of you have driven while blind? Have you been caught? What was the outcome? My advice: don't try this in Talin Estonia. See below. LOL.
TALLINN (Reuters) - An Estonian man who was caught driving a car even though he is blind has been at it again, police said on Monday, and this time he faces
jail.
Police first arrested the man, 20, a week ago.
"We arrested the same blind man driving his car again on Saturday in the town of Torvandi, near Tartu (in southern Estonia)," said Marge Kohtla, a spokeswoman
for Tartu police district.
"He was drunk. There were three people in the car with him giving him instructions."
She said police wanted the court to jail the man for 30 days and confiscate his car.
I have driven in a mall parking lot at night. It felt very strange.
I have driven a couple times (with someone to give me directions of course), mostly just in parking lots or very very short distances (like from one parking lot to another)... I was never caught though. I figure that even though I can't get a lisence, it's still handy to know how to drive.
It feels much safer then trying to operate an ATV or snowmobile though, that's for sure!
I was completely sober at the time though...
I've only driven in empty parking lots with my father giving the directions.
never tried driving in my life, and don't plan on it.
My husband blames Top Speed II and Rail Racer for the trouble in Estonia, with this blind driver. Hahahah.
I've driven cars in parking lots, open fields, and on a few sidestreets. All with someone giving directions, of course. I'd definitely do it again if given even a quarter of a chance. And...we don't talk about the other vehicles; some of those excursions didn't go the best. LOL.
I drove some cars several times in an empty parking lot with some friends. It was fun, driving is easy as long as you know how to control the breaks and maneuver the wheel. Most importantly you got to you a good sense of direction to where you want to go. Anyway, to keep it short, i never got caught and would probably drive again in a different car.
I've never driven, but I'd probably crash into a wall or something after about 2 seconds! Hahahaha!
ROFLLMAO, enjoy people blaming audio gaming for all lifes problems. The sited world has been dealing with miss-guided thinking like this for years. Lets forget that the guy was drunk, and just throw knives at anything and everything that could have caused this man to want to drive. lol.
Yes I agree with you on that statement. If the sighted world can't find anything else to blame it on, they'll use something like an audio game. Yes I've driven before in an empty parking lot with my dad giving me instruction s.
Yep. I've driven on streets, highway and in parking lots. Never got caught; though once we passed a cop who had another car pulled over and my husband told me to wave, so I did. The next sonday we saw that same cop in church...Was checking out the mormon religion...LOL, even though he realized then I was blind he couldn't do anything...
I've driven on an ordenary 20-acre field, one of those people carrier four-wheel drive things lol, and once a group of us went to a disused airfield, where they had three rally cars and a fire engine. I drove them all during the course of the day, lol. (with people giving me instructions of course, lol). One of the rally cars actually had a ball balanced on the bonnet and our challenge was to keep it balanced there while we were at the wheel, lol. I think I managed it.
Jen.
Aw'w and Joanne, don't knock driving. It's loads of fun. When my best friend was driving the fire engine that day with us all sat in the back, she slammed on the brakes and I fell on the floor, lol, so just give it a go. You'll never look back and say you wish you hadn't done it! I promise you!
Jen.
I have driven with directions a couple times.
For a blind person to drive, is very difficult. Because you are not seeingwhere to go. I only know how to start a car, I don't know how to make it move.
If you have someone who gives good instructions; it's great, but if the someone gives awful instructions; it's nerve racking. I've done it both ways. LOL. Both were experiences I'll never forget, and yes, I'd probably do it again with my husband, but not with my cousin; I want nails left...Oh, and if you ever start a stick, make sure it's in nutral before you let off the clutch...My brother had me start his stick shift truck once, and he didn't have it in nutral so it started to roll when I let off the clutch; talk about almost having a heart attack...I hadn't driven before that...
heh the only thing i have driven and probably its the only thing i'll ever keep on driving are bumper cars, man, those are fun!
